Dream Big & Go Bigger

I’m not sure if humble beginnings are the fuel of my adult goals, or if I have finally come to the realization that it’s ‘ok’ to dream big and go bigger. In my professional life, I see so many inspiring homes with spaces that leave me starry-eyed and thinking of ways to improve my own home space.

I’ve dreamed of a master bedroom suite that rivals a stay at the Waldorf Astoria…and then I realize that taking our given space and re-working it is a possibility. I mean, really…what woman wouldn’t want a walk-in closet with lined drawers, shoe shelves, and space for everything to be neatly organized and visually appealing?? Don’t forget plush carpeting and a mini chandelier! Who’s with me here?!

The pragmatic in me says that this will add value to the home if we ever decide to sell, while the dreamer says “when can we start?” You see, I have a problem: I think my husband is a wizard and can just wave a magic wand and make things happen. His talent is remarkable and his desire to see me happy is the stuff that dreams are made of. If I can dream it, he can build it, create it, or fix it…and I have to remind myself that his knowledge and ability aren’t to be taken lightly.

God never gives you a dream that matches your budget. He’s not checking your bank account, He’s checking your Faith.

Tackling a large project requires extensive research, sketches, scrapped sketches, and planning…lots of planning. Structural considerations, spacial consideration (where would a bed go?) and visualizing the finished project are all part of the process. It will be a while before all the details are ironed out, but the process is half the fun! All I know is that my husband will need many, many prayers because he will have some challenges with this one, and with me! I don’t give in very easily…yeah, I’m a bulldog.

Life changes. Our goals change and evolve over time. We can sketch out our perfect life and then something comes along to alter our journey. Don’t get all stressed out…just go with it. God put you where you are at this very moment for a reason! Trust and know that God wants you to dream BIG and trust in Him to guide you on your journey.

Be like Harley….close your eyes & catch that big squirrel you’re chasing in your dreams!
